For this issue, INSPIRE ME Magazine asked contributors their favourite ways to get moving. Read on to see what they have to say.

Lori Carter is a gardener, nature lover, baker, pursuer of living sustainably and supporter of local products and businesses. Natural areas around her and elsewhere are also incredibly important to Lori, including how people and communities interact with nature, growing plants and food. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, she transplanted to the west coast 14 years ago to explore all that the west has to offer, including the incredibly long growing season of Vancouver Island. Her heart is in Nova Scotia and her hands are in the soil of Victoria, British Columbia.

My favourite way to get moving is to visit my garden, get the watering going, see if there’s anything to harvest or spaces to plant. I also like to walk the hills in my neighbourhood while listening to a good audiobook!

Lindsay Glass.png

Lindsay Glass is a mom to two and wife of one and lover of all things food. When this born and raised Nova Scotian is not getting creative in the kitchen or dreaming of home décor she is a driven professional with extensive experience in the food regulatory and safety space, both in the public and private sectors. She is a passionate relationship builder and loves learning people's stories. She is especially inspired by her strong female relationships, which without them she would be lost. Lindsay and her husband recently built a new home in Middle Sackville and are loving the country life!

My favourite way to get moving is through group exercise classes - I miss the good 'ol step aerobic classes! I also love movement that is hidden in an activity —from therapy walk sessions with a friend, paddle boarding and swimming on a hot summer day with my family to biking from vineyard to vineyard or a fun barre class on a Saturday night!

Yoga and Hiking! I love the ritual and grounding peace of stepping on my mat. And the conversation and connections I build while hiking with my partner is something that is so expansive and imprints by to me. And if I’m just feeling off mid day, a good old full body shake and some loud exhales do the trick!

A KristaBeach.jpg

Krista Ivanov is a writer and real estate agent who makes her home on beautiful St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia, complete with pumpkins, mums and a wreath.

I am a walker, but not a fast walker. Our 14-year-old dog likes to amble along and that suits me just fine. We live within walking distance of two beaches, so I make it my goal to walk to them each day. I think moving while outdoors is always more beneficial than indoors, so I walk to the beach year round.

Recently Jenn achieved her dream of working location-independent by becoming a virtual assistant. She moved back to her hometown and along with her husband they bought a 1850s home to fix up. My favourite way to move my body is walking. I love to put in my headphones and go for a walk around the river where I live, or go for a hike in the woods. Walking is also my favourite way to explore when I travel, you really get to know a place by wandering through it.
